Rider - Capt AIE Parkinson (RHA)

Horse - Paddys Audano (Smurf)

Amy commissioned into the 1st Royal Horse Artillery Regiment in 2010 and has subsequently served with both the 3rd Regiment and King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery. Amy has served on operations in Afghanistan and is currently serving as the Adjutant at the Kings Troop in London. In this role Amy rides as Parade Commander for State Ceremonial Commitments and ceremonial displays and is also the personnel manager for the Regiment and lead staff officer, supporting the Commanding Officer.

Amy has ridden since she was 6 years old. While she enjoys all disciplines of British competition, in her teenage years she competed at the highest level in Working Hunter and Mountain and Moorland Showing classes. Amy bred pure Connemara’s from her family home in Suffolk and has experience in breaking-in young horses and re-training racehorses.

Army life is extremely busy, however serving with a Mounted Unit has afforded Amy the opportunity to get back into competition. In the six months that they have been competing together, Amy and Smurf have progressed from British Novice to jumping Foxhunter classes in affiliated show jumping. Amy and Smurf are both really looking forward to their first summer together and will be competing in British Showjumping, British Eventing and the military events throughout the year.
